Objectives
This innovation is designed to enhance the lifecycle management of airside and landside equipment by focusing on decommissioning and upcycling.
The primary objectives of this innovation project are:
Enhance Lifecycle Management: Improve the management of airside and landside equipment through effective decommissioning and upcycling practices.
Create a Marketplace for Reuse: Develop the first global marketplace for second-hand airport equipment, offering certified and functioning items both through an online catalog and on-demand requests.
Benchmark and Develop Models: Benchmark equipment reuse practices against other industries, develop a robust financial model, and design an efficient process to optimize equipment reuse.
Promote Sustainability and Economic Value: Generate economic value by leveraging unexploited assets, support sustainability initiatives, and create job opportunities.
Progress
A key advancement in the project is the launch of the AirportMarket Second-Hand Equipment program.
This platform unites the airport community with a new business model focused on second-hand equipment, bridging the gap between supply and demand for airside and landside equipment.
Key developments include:
Marketplace Development: The platform will enhance its capabilities with online payment options, an integrated supply chain, and sales and operations planning (S&OP) features in the coming year.
Quality Assurance: Equipment listed on the marketplace undergoes thorough reconditioning by the original manufacturer and receives certification from APAVE, ensuring high standards of functionality and integrity.
Expansion and Recognition: The program is expanding its vendor network to include high-traffic passenger airports globally and has garnered several awards for its circular and sustainable approach, including recognitions in France (2022) and Saudi Arabia (2023).
Key figures
Marketplace Integration: As of June 2024, the AirportMarket has successfully integrated 180 airports into its platform.
Circular Economy Impact: This initiative represents Groupe ADP's lighthouse circular economy project, achieving a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions for both vendors and buyers. In 2023 alone, it contributed to the reduction of thousands of tons of CO2.
