From 25 to 27 November 2025, the OLGA consortium gathered in Cluj-Napoca for a productive and insightful project meeting, bringing together partners, experts and stakeholders to advance the project’s technical work and strategic coordination.

Following a strategic first day, the second and third days of the meeting focused on in-depth technical discussions, knowledge exchange and concrete progress on OLGA’s solutions for greener and more holistic airports. Task leaders provided comprehensive updates, enabling the consortium to gain a clearer and deeper understanding of the project’s key topics and ongoing activities.

A key highlight of the meeting was the series of on-site observations at Cluj International Airport, where partners had the opportunity to explore innovative solutions being implemented and assessed within the OLGA framework. These included the presentation of an autonomous bus operating at the airport, presented by Bogdan Ovidiu Varga and Dan Moldovanu from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca, a partial replication of innovative terminal lighting concepts, presented by Dorin Beu from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca and a waste-to-biomethane plant contributing to more sustainable airport energy systems, presented by Florent Huet from ENGIE Lab Crigen. These demonstrations offered valuable insights into the practical application of research results in a real airport environment.

In parallel, the Steering Committee meeting provided an important forum for strategic guidance and exchange. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all speakers who shared their expertise and enriched the discussions through their contributions. Their insights played a key role in fostering constructive dialogue and supporting informed decision-making across the consortium. We also thank all task leaders for their detailed inputs, which greatly contributed to the overall quality and effectiveness of the meeting.

And lastly, the OLGA consortium extends its sincere thanks to the Municipality of Cluj-Napoca, Cluj International Airport and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca for their excellent organisation and warm hospitality. Their support was instrumental in making this meeting a success.
